VIDEO PROJECT

VIEW THE LYRIC VIDEO

in keeping with the theme of the album, THE "BLACK IN AMERICA" VIDEO PROJECT WILL SEEK TO COLLECT 10-15 second video CLIPS from BLACK/african-AMERICANS TO  SHOW VISUALLY HOW THEY SELF-IDENTIFY AND WHAT THEY SEE AS BEEING AT THE ROOT LEVEL OF WHO THEY ARE.

WE WANT TO SEE YOU AS YOU SEE YOURSELF, AND NOT AS THE WORLD or media has taught you.

 

AFTER WEAVING TOGETHER THE CLIPS FROM THE SUBMISSIONS, MANY WILL be INCLUDED as PART OF THE music video for the song "black in americA". THE PARTICIPANTS THAT MAKE IT ON THE VIDEO WILL appear in the video credits. All Submissions, regardless of making it in the video, will receive a free Download of the album on Nov.17th.

ABOUT

THE NEW ALBUM, TITLED OUT FELL THE SPIDER, IS ABOUT SHINING A LIGHT ON THE FORCES THAT weave and CONNECT OUR STORIES. the songs beg us to go to deeper, toward the roots of ourselves. this is where we find BOTH the culprit of our self-destruction       and the seed of who we are that replants and saves us in end.

- IF YOU WANT TO USE WORDS, please USE A SIGN OR PIECE OF PAPER TO WRITE THE WORD(S) THAT YOU FEEL IDENTIFY You (SIMILAR TO THE PICTURE ON THE LEFT). THE WORD(S) CAN BE ANY COLOR, CREED, TITLE, NAME, SPIRIT ANIMAL, PROFESSION, country, or ROLE that you feel best identifies you at a root level. THERE ARE NO WRONG identifiers as long as it's true for you.

IF YOU were born, or grew up in america, AND  get identified as black or self-identify as black, we need your help to complete this project. If you know someone that fits this description, we need your help to pass this message.

GOAL

TO empower PEOPLE TO SELF-IDENTIFY OUTSIDE OF, OR USING, THE LABELS COMMON IN american SOCIETY SUCH AS BLACK, African-American, African descent, etc., AND USING THE WEB TO BRING TOGETHER AN ARRAY OF GENERATIONS, GENDERS, AND ORIENTATIONS WITHIN THE BLACK COMMUNITY in a music video format. WE want to have a better understanding of our community and how to move forward into the future by honoring each other's perspectives and where we stand now.
